Master Bedroom Wardrobe Design Ideas for Indian Homes in 2026

Dual-tone sliding wardrobe design for master bedroom Delhi NCR by IndecSpace

A master bedroom wardrobe in Delhi NCR costs approximately ₹68,000–1.15 Lakh for an entry laminate tier, ₹1.35–2.2 Lakh for a mid acrylic/PU sliding tier, or ₹2.6 Lakh+ for a premium walk-in tier in 2026. After the kitchen, it's the second-most debated piece of furniture in an Indian home renovation — and for good reason, since it has to solve storage problems a generic 'closet' was never designed for. Wardrobes sit under our Modular Interiors service alongside kitchens and storage units, and the same design and execution standards apply.

Sliding vs Hinged: Which Actually Fits Your Room

Sliding shutters need zero swing clearance, making them the practical default for smaller Delhi NCR bedrooms — but that convenience comes at a cost, and with a trade-off in how much of the wardrobe you can access at once.

Internal Configuration for How Indian Homes Actually Store Clothes

A wardrobe designed around Western closet templates almost always under-serves Indian storage needs. Saree and dupatta storage needs a dedicated long-hanging section — taller than a standard shirt-hanging bay — to avoid folding creases into fabric that's meant to drape. A locker or safe compartment is usually built into a lower column near the bed-facing end of the wardrobe, at a height that doesn't require bending fully to the floor. A dedicated shoe section near the door-facing column keeps footwear out of the main hanging space, and seasonal blanket or suitcase storage belongs on the top shelf or loft — which is why loft height and access, a pull-down rod or a small stepstool niche, is a design decision and not an afterthought.

This internal configuration is decided during the same 2D/3D design phase as the rest of your home — we plan it around your actual clothing volume and storage habits at the consultation stage, not from a standard template applied to every bedroom regardless of who lives in it.

Wardrobe Cost by Tier

Three tiers cover most master bedroom wardrobe projects we quote:

TierFinishCost
EntryLaminate, hinged shutters, standard hardware₹68,000–1.15 Lakh
MidAcrylic/PU, sliding, soft-close, internal drawers₹1.35–2.2 Lakh
PremiumFull PU/veneer, walk-in or loft, integrated LED lighting₹2.6 Lakh+

Finish Options and What They Cost You Long-Term

The laminate-vs-acrylic-vs-PU trade-offs we cover in our modular kitchen cost guide apply just as directly to wardrobes — PU remains the most scratch- and moisture-resistant option and the one we'd default to for a master bedroom wardrobe that sees daily use for a decade or more. One wardrobe-specific note: mirror-finish shutters look striking in a render but show fingerprints and dust more visibly than a matte PU or laminate finish, so factor in how much daily wiping you're genuinely willing to do before choosing one for a high-traffic bedroom wardrobe.
